Two additional iterations of the Vision headset are among the four new hardware projects that Apple is apparently working on.
According to Bloomberg, Apple is developing four new AR/VR products, including a competitor to Meta Ray-Ban glasses and two new Vision headsets.
When the Apple Vision Pro first came out earlier this year, it was not very popular, mostly because to its high $3,500 price tag. With a little less expensive Vision headset that costs $2,000 and does not have the “Pro” label, Apple’s Vision Products Group is now attempting to become a hit.
Apple is employing less expensive materials and removing some important functionality, such as EyeSight, which allows users to project their eyes onto the outside of the headset, in order to give customers this lower pricing. According to Bloomberg, Apple anticipates that the reduced version will increase sales by at least twice as much as the original Vision Pro.
Additionally, Apple is creating a rival to the Meta Ray-Ban Smart Glasses, which retail for $299 and have a lightweight design. According to the article, it might introduce its competing eyewear in 2027. Given that Meta has extended its cooperation with Ray-Ban for a further ten years, it will have to contend with both future Ray-Ban collaborations and Meta’s Orion Smart Glasses.
According to reports, Apple is also developing camera-equipped AirPods and a second-generation Vision Pro. The Vision Pro’s visual intelligence will be used by the rumored AirPods to detect their environment and give the wearer relevant information.
