Ahead of its formal launch, which is anticipated to take place next week, Apple has made the iOS 18.1 Release Candidate (RC) available to developers and the general public in beta testing. All iPhone 16 and iPhone 15 Pro models will get the first set of Apple Intelligence features with the iOS 18.1 upgrade.
The features of the iOS 18.1 RC, which is expected to be the final build barring last-minute changes, are described in the release notes. Notification summaries, a redesigned Siri interface, system-wide writing assistance, and other features are included in the update. In addition to the intelligence enhancements, iOS 18.1 will have new Camera Control tools, Control Center settings, and support for RCS Business Messaging.

Features of Apple Intelligence in iOS 18.1 RC
Writing Tools: The system will be combined with AI-powered writing tools that will allow users to edit, proofread, and summarize content right within apps.
Siri: The new Siri interface in iOS 18.1 includes luminous lights along the perimeter of the screen. By understanding conversational context and responding more organically, the upgrade improves Siri’s capabilities. Additionally, Siri will be able to respond to inquiries concerning iPhone settings and functionality.
Photos: Users will be able to locate images and videos by description thanks to the Photos app’s enhanced smart search features. There will also be new tools like Memory Movie, which will create videos, and Clean Up, which will remove unnecessary stuff.
alerts: A new feature will create a brief summary of alerts from many apps, including third-party apps.
Mail and Messages: The Mail app will intelligently prioritize messages based on context, putting the most important ones at the top, and Smart Reply in Mail and Messages will provide suggested answers.
Notes: AI-generated summaries of audio or phone recording transcripts are available through Notes’ transcription summaries feature.
